Caring For Your New Swimsuit
You just bought a gorgeous, sexy, hot new swimsuit and want to make sure the colour lasts and that awesome leopard print doesn’t fade?
We hear you!
Sun, sand and salt can really do a number of beautiful bright colours and patterns of a bathing suit. Add to that the harsh chemicals in a swimming pool and spa, like chlorine, plus sunscreens, tanners, and disaster!
Colours fade and delicate fibres break down without proper care.
To keep your fashion swimwear looking as glamourous as the first day you tried it on, follow these simple Dos and Don’ts.

Do
- Rinse out your swimwear after it has been in the water. That means after every swim ideally, but definitely after every day at the beach.
- When it comes to washing, hand washing is best. Always read the label for instructions. If none, use cool/lukewarm water and mild soap.
- Got no time for handwashing? Machine wash on the delicate or gentle cycle using extra gentle detergent.
- Dry your swimwear in the shade, by laying it flat in its shape.
Don’t
- Never wring out your swimsuit.
- Don’t leave a wet swimsuit rolled up.
- It’s best not to use fabric softener or bleach. These can harm the colour.
- Don’t soak your swimwear overnight.
- Never iron a swimsuit. The fabric just isn’t made for that sort of heat.
- Just like avoiding the iron, put your swimwear in the clothes dryer is not a good idea.
- Never leave your swimwear to dry in the sun.
- Don’t fold any garments that are made from Neoprene.
- Never get your bathing suit dry-cleaned.
