Your Best Summer Skin Starts Here
Most of us know by now that the harmful damage of both UVA and UVB rays from the Aussie sun are just so strong. They break down the collagen and elastin in our skin and create those ugly fine lines and wrinkles we all hate, plus cause our skin to sag.
What happens when we sunbath?
When we soak up the sun, we are exposing our body to the harmful UV rays from the sun. These prompt the body to form free radicals within the skin.
Free radicals damage elastin fibres in the skin which results in premature ageing and this includes sagging skin and fine lines and wrinkles.
Tanning accelerates the ageing process by taking away the volume that keeps the wrinkles at bay and making us not only look older but creating ugly skin conditions like
- broken capillaries
- age spots
- moles and freckles
- rosacea
- uneven skin tone
- blotchy skin

Solariums are worse too! Faking a tan using a solarium is, unfortunately, a worse choice. These machines are not only going to cause sun damage, but they are also known to cause cancer.
Solariums issue concentrated harmful amounts of artificial U light which is just bad, bad, bad. And the reason why they have been banned in many states of Australia

These are some great expert tips for limiting the damage the sun causes to your skin when you are enjoying the outdoors:
- Choose a sunscreen offering broad spectrum protection. Lather it on at least half an hour before heading out into the sun.
- Use a stylish cover-up to protect your skin or a rashvest.
- Don’t forget to wear sunnies and a hat
- The sun is at its strongest between 10 am and 2 pm. Stick to the shade at these times.
- When it comes to tanning, rather than use the sun, apply a fake tan.
